There are more than 500 Venetian green areas, often an ancient legacy of patrician palaces or monastic structures, and with this tour through the secret gardens of Venice you will visit three historic gardens, immersed in the calm silence of hidden places, away from the hustle and bustle of the most famous and the city on the water.

Lorenzo Patrol, a renowned numismatic collector with a passion for botany and natural science, had created a botanical garden and a herbarium of more than 1,200 exotic plants in the annexes of his Palazzo Rizzo Patrol.

Bathed by the waters of the northern lagoon, it was a meeting place for artists and men of letters. Its garden is one of the largest and most famous of Renaissance Venice for its wealth of perspective inventions and statues.

The garden belongs to a community of Dominican Sisters. There is a magnificent vegetable garden with fruit trees (pomegranates, medlars, figs, apricots), two beautiful pergolas of white wisteria and roses, passion flowers and American vines. In the garden there are petunias, hibiscus, hydrangeas, dahlias, mallows, violets, marigolds, snapdragons, roses and irises.
