We will be walking through two of the oldest city districts : The “Duomo “, with its magnificent Cathedral where is preserved the miraculous blood of San Gennaro- the Patron Saint of Napoli and the “Sanità”, burial place since Greek times with its amazing Basilica di Santa Maria alla Sanità built over the Catacombs of San Gaudioso. Ancestral rituals continue to take place here , made since centuries with same unchanged gesture and faith.
During our stroll we will see a number of “Edicole Votive”(little “Urban Shrines”) which are the most beautiful form of Popular devotion, with the representation of “the lost souls of the Purgatory”, waiting for human prayers to get to Heaven in in change of Graces.
Our is a foodie experience and not only rituals, blood, skulls and Prayers. That’s why we will walk through the Vergini market – a cozy local Market – To get to the Sanità district to try one of the Best “ Pizza Fritta” in Napoli a deep fried calzone, stuffed or topped with Italian Delicacies, but we can’t finish this tour without trying one of the best Pasticceria of Naples “Poppella” -that serves the original “Fiocco di Neve” an Institution in Town.
