The Rialto Bridge was built between 1588 and 1591, based on a project by the architect Antonio da Ponte, to replace the previous wooden structure, which collapsed twice and burned on various occasions.

Crossing the Rialto Bridge from San Marco, you will reach the Rialto Market, a colorful place where fruit and vegetables are sold. The market has ancient origins and has been built in this place since 1097.
It opens every day, from 9 to 12 in the morning, in the Campo de la Pescaria. In summer, even more than in other seasons, you will realize how difficult it is to resist the temptation to approach the colorful boxes of fresh fruit on the market!

The Grand Canal is Venice’s number one tourist attraction: the most famous, the most original and the first you will come across. And it’s free too! This is the wide S-shaped or snake-like canal that crosses the entire historic center of Venice, dividing it in two: it is the first thing you will see as soon as you leave the train station. Just under 4 km long, the Grand Canal is the main communication route in Venice: just follow its banks to get to the heart of the city and find all the other must-see attractions.
