The Greek Theater or Ancient Theater is certainly the most representative and important monument present in Taormina. The ancient Theater of Taormina, which was born to host dramatic or musical performances, had been transformed during the Roman era to make room for gladiatorial games and naval battles. This led to the expansion of the orchestra, which in Greek times was intended for players, so as to be adapted to the new arena function.
