Another small peculiarity of Rome. At the top of the hill (practically underneath the statue of Garibaldi) a cannon is fired from 24 January 1904 which shoots, at high noon, at noon. The shot, in the rare days when the city is less noisy (particularly on Sundays, or August), can be heard up to the Esquiline!

Terrazza del Pincio is a panoramic terrace on the top of the Pincio hill used as a belvedere overlooking the Piazza del Popolo below. From it you also have a view of the dome of San Pietro and Castel Sant’Angelo. The construction of the terrace began in 1826 designed by Giuseppe Valadier, who also designed the Piazza del Popolo in front of it.

The fountain, or fontanone, of the Acqua Paola, also known as the fountain of the Janiculum, is a monumental fountain located on the Janiculum Hill, in Rome. Built as a terminal exhibition of the Trajan aqueduct between 1610 and 1614 at the behest of Pope Paul V, the “Fontanone” assumed its current appearance with the reconstruction carried out at the end of the seventeenth century by Carlo Fontana. The monument has also become an important symbol of Rome, appearing in several films, including the Oscar-winning The Great Beauty by Paolo Sorrentino.
