One of the best ways to appreciate the Eternal City is by walking her streets and piazzas as the sunset light warmly embraces palaces and fountains before night falls. This is also the way locals do it, i.e. a leisurely passeggiata (Italian for a relaxed stroll) in the historic center at the end of a busy day.
We will start from Piazza del Popolo, with its obelisk and monumental gate. For many centuries this square provided the first glimpse of Rome to travelers coming from the North.

Stop At: Terrazza del Pincio, Salita del Pincio 1, 00187 Rome Italy
We will climb up the Pincio terrace (5-10 min. easy walk), on the edge of the Villa Borghese park, to admire the spectacular view of Piazza del Popolo and the city beyond.

We will descend the monumental staircase known as Spanish Steps, from the church of Trinità dei Monti, another unique view point on the historic heart of Rome. At the bottom of the steps we will admire the Baroque fountain of “La Barcaccia” right in the heart of Rome’s high-end fashion district

The Pantheon is the best preserved ancient building in Rome. We will stop to admire this feat of ancient engineering, whilst our expert discloses key information to understand its historical importance and context.

Built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, Piazza Navona hosts some stunning examples of Baroque architecture such as the Fountain of Four Rivers by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and the church of Sant’Agnese in Agone by Francesco Borromini. The square is one of the most lively of Rome with street performers and cafes.

See the Trevi Fountain, a late Baroque fountain made famous by Fellini’s film ‘La Dolce Vita’.
