Stop At: Martina Franca, Martina Franca, Province of Taranto, Puglia
The tour will start from Santo Stefano gate, one of the ancient gateway in the city walls; we’ll visit the Ducal Palace, residence of the Caracciolo Dukes, and which preserves interiors completely frescoed.
We’ll admire San Martino Basilica, the main church of the town, built in a Late Baroque style.
Walking along the alleys of the historical centre, we will meet elegant noble palaces which made the Martina Baroque style famous, such as Palazzo Motolese, Palazzo Fanelli, Palazzo Magli, Palazzo Casavola.
The tour will continue towards the San Pietro gate and tower, which were part of the system of fortification defending the city, and will end at the La Lama district, the most ancient area in Martina Franca.
At the end of the tour it is possible to have a tasting of delicious Apulian cheese and the the renowned Capocollo di Martina Franca produced in the area.
