With the professionalism and assistance of the bike-guide you will have the opportunity to explore the Gran Sasso trails in total safety on a comfortable E-MTB all mountain of the latest generation, to get to know places of historical and cultural interest and taste food and wine specialties.
The excursion will stop in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Santo Stefano di Sessanio and the Castle of Rocca Calascio, one of the 15 most beautiful castles in the world for National Geographic, where short stops are planned. On the way back it will be possible to rest while tasting roasts and other typical local products at the Montecristo refuge.
Necessary equipment: helmet, mountain shoes, gloves, sunglasses, shorts with back, long socks, backpack, at least 1 liter of water, bars, sunscreen, raincoat and long-sleeved shirt.
A good athletic preparation is required and halves the use of bicycles.

Itinerary

Stop At: Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Province of L’Aquila, Abruzzo

Departure from Fonte Cerreto at 10.00 am along a mountain path for about 10 km that leads to the Locce di Santo Stefano, a plateau where the lentil is grown at high altitude, a typical local product. After another 5 km along a dirt road we reach one of the most beautiful villages in ITALY: Santo Stefano di Sessanio, which we will visit on our return from Rocca Calascio, only 5 km away.

Stop At: Rocca Calascio, Via Di Pizzo Falcone, 67020 Calascio Italy

The medieval castle of Rocca Calascio has been ranked by National Geographic among the 15 most beautiful castles in the world and has been the set of numerous film productions, such as Lady Hawke.

Stop At: Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga, Via del Convento 1, 67100 Assergi Italy

From the fortress you can admire a unique landscape: on one side the Corno Grande massif, on the other the Majella and under the vaIle of Tirino, where the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is produced. After a short stop in Calascio we return to Santo Stefano for a quick visit of the village. At about 2.30 p.m. we return to the MonteCristo refuge where you can rest while tasting the typical local products.
