Reach Trani from Bari or other cities, comfortably with Trenitalia trains. A uristic guide will be waiting for you to start the walking tour of Trani

Stop At: Trani, Trani, Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, Puglia

The guided tour starts at 10.00. During the guided tour in this elegant city called “the pearl of the Adriatic Sea”, you can admire the Swabian Castle and the Cathedral built on the sea and both built with the local stone “pietra di Trani”. The Castle was built at the behest of Emperor Frederick II of Swabia in 1233, while the Cathedral was begun in 1099 and ended about a century and a half later. Between 1200 and 1500 a Jewish community settled here in Trani, which gave life to the Jewish quarter “La Giudecca” where synagogues stood. Walking with the guide you will enter this district and you can admire characteristic stone buildings and synagogues of the XII century.
You will end your visit to the port, where you can stop for 30 minutes for a quick lunch. A minivan will pick you up and take you to Castel del Monte.

You will walk around the octagonal castle discovering the history of Emperor Frederick II, who ordered its construction and admire the beautiful landscape that overlooks the expanse of olive trees and Alta Murgia National Park. You will enter the Castle and here you will be able to enter the rooms and admire its construction from the inside, discovering what its uses could have been in the Middle Ages. At the end of the guided tour, the minivan will take you back to the train station in Trani. End of services
