After Castel Sant’Angelo, you will continue towards the enchanting St. Peter’s Square, located in the Vatican City in front of the famous St. Peter’s Basilica. The most iconic photos of this impressive monument are always captured at night. In the heart of the square, there is an ancient Egyptian obelisk, built in 1586. The square took its final shape almost 100 years later thanks to Gian Lorenzo Bernini who introduced the Tuscan colonnades that now frame the surroundings.

Finally, you will climb the second highest hill in all of Rome, the Janiculum, and from this place you will admire a sparkling skyline. Sitting at the western end of the city, there are few better vantage points from which to savor the sight of the domed buildings and beautiful bell towers of Rome. Tourist attractions visible from the Janiculum include the church of San Pietro – said to be the site of the crucifixion of San Pietro – as well as a small sanctuary known as the Tempietto, otherwise understood as the place of Peter’s death.
