What to Expect When Visiting Taormina, Province of Messina, Italy
On this tour with mountain bycicle you will discover the Etna park area and part of Randazzo village. You will have private pick up and drop off from your hotel or port. At the end of the tour you will have traditional lunch in farmhouse with local wine.
Itinerary
Your private driver will bring you till Randazzo. The tour starts from the historic center of this medieval village with mountain bike. Cycling along the main street we will cross three important squares to take a look of three ancient churches built in different periods and with different styles. After passing one of the gates of the old walls, we will continue on a state road towards the Gurrida lake. Before reaching the lake we will passing by a unique example of native submerged vineyard. The lake formed after a catastrophic eruptions of Etna, the lava flow came by this eruption created a barrier of the river Flascio. From the shores of the lake you can enjoy a wonderful view, and while Etna is reflected in the water, we will cycle along a beautiful path that circumnavigates the basin. After a stop to admire the place and listen to the beautiful birdsong, we will get back to the village of Randazzo. At the end of the tour you will go to a farmhouse for a traditional lunch with products that the farm produces: ham, cheeses, olives, fried cauliflower, Etna mushrooms, fresh ricotta, dried tomatoes, caponata and wine produced by the farm.
