This charming seaside village was the only connection between the city and the sea for over two thousand years and is still used today by Sorrento fishermen.

Nestled under the characteristic lemon terraces of the Sorrento Coast, away from the busiest streets of the city, this small bay boasts an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

It is the minor port of Sorrento, but also the oldest. Once the port area, where the boats of nobles and merchants docked, was separated from the city by a large wall. Erected to protect Sorrento in the 4th century BC, the ancient walls of Sorrento have been rebuilt several times following foreign raids, including the invasion of the Turks in 1558. Today much of the original walls have been lost, but it is still possible. visit the gateway and the Bastione di Parsano.

The Bagni della Regina Giovanna are located on the promontory of Punta Capo in Sorrento, to be precise they are located on the coast of the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella. It is a magnificent natural swimming pool a few steps from the center of Sorrento, a small natural oasis. The Baths are located near the villa of Pollio Felice, a Roman patrician of the 1st century BC. The Villa was immense, consisting of about 30,000 square meters, but unfortunately today it is possible to admire only the ruins. The poet Orazio and the poet Stazio also narrated the magnificence of the villa.

The name of the Baths derives from Queen Giovanna II of Anjou-Durazzo. In fact, it is said that in the period from 1371 to 1435 the queen loved to spend the summer in Sorrento and that she spent her time with her lovers right in the waters of the Capo di Sorrento.

The Marina di Puolo marks the beginning of the Lubrense coast, is located halfway between Sorrento and Massa Lubrense and belongs to a small extent to the Municipality of Sorrento.
It takes its name from the Roman Pollio Felice, an illustrious exponent of a noble family from Pozzuoli and owner of a villa whose ruins are still visible nearby, in the locality of Calcarella.
The small village is made up almost entirely of fishermen’s houses and the area in front of the beach, precisely “Cala di Puolo”, was, until the sixties, a quarry for the extraction of gravel.
