What makes One day tour of Catania and Syracuse a unique experience ?

Once in Catania we begin the walking tour. We walk to Piazza Duomo, in the heart of the city, to admire its baroque buildings and explore the grandiose monuments scattered around the center. In the center of the square we find the Elephant Statue (symbol of the city), carved in the typical black volcanic stone of Catania, as well as admiring the imposing Town Hall.
We cross Via Etnea, the lively main street that takes its name from the city’s nemesis, the imposing Mount Etna, and Piazza Stesicoro to see the remains of the Roman Amphitheater and the monument to Vincenzo Bellini: the illustrious opera composer from Catania. We continue on Via Etnea and crossing Villa Bellini, the public park, we set off to return to the starting point, passing through Via Crociferi, film location for many Italian films but, before getting on the bus, we visit the famous “Pescheria”: market of outdoor fish, famous for its particular colours.

Our tour continues with a visit to the Neapolis Archaeological Park: the famous archaeological area of Syracuse which hosts a vast collection of Greek and Roman ruins from all over Sicily.
Inside we can admire impressive excavations and well-preserved monuments such as the Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheater and the Ear of Dionysius (an artificial limestone cave) and the Altar of Hieron II: the largest Greek sacrificial altar in which the hecatomb, that is, the sacrifice of 100 oxen.

we head towards the Island of Ortigia: the oldest area of the city of Syracuse. We will visit Piazza Archimede (a lively square that houses the Fountain of Arethusa) and Piazza del Duomo (the central square of Syracuse, which stands on the ruins of the Temple of Athena). Followed by the 17th century Archbishop’s Palace, the Beneventano del Bosco Palace and Il Lucertolone – the Town Hall.
