Salerno Trip Overview
Our Tour 1943 Operation Avalanche Salerno is an immersive itinerary in one of the most important pages in the history of Italy.
We will trace what history remembers as the largest military maneuver in the Mediterranean, second only to the Normandy landing in 1944.
Our guided tour starts at the Museum of Operation Avalanche in Eboli.
After visiting the museum, we pass to the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Salerno, where 1,847 British, American and Canadian soldiers are buried, as well as from South Africa, India, New Zealand and Africa.
We then head towards the Amalfi Coast and reach the city of Maiori.
Here we stop on the beach where the allied forces land and then we drive to the Chiunzi Pass, where we begin our trek towards Monte Sant’Angelo and Monte Finestra, retracing the footsteps of the soldiers.
The trekking tour will end in Cava de’ Tirreni.

The Museum of operation Avalanche is a museum located in Eboli, in the province of Salerno. Established in 2012 by the Sophis Association chaired by Marco Botta, inside the monumental complex of Sant’Antonio, it is dedicated to the allied landing in Salerno during the Second World War.

The Salerno War Cemetery is a military cemetery in Montecorvino Pugliano where soldiers fallen in the Landing in Salerno during the Second World War rest. There are 1,846 military graves from Commonwealth countries and 107 of unknown nationality
