Rome Trip Overview
During the lockdown, we have seen images of empty towns on TV, in newspapers and magazines, but walking around the city and photographing normally crowded places, such as the Trevi Fountain, the Vatican City, or the Colosseum being instead absolutely empty was an incredible and hopefully unrepeatable experience. As a professional photographer, I spent three days walking throughout Rome taking photos that could tell all its paradoxical, bizarre, spooky atmosphere. I felt like witnessing a suspended life, almost like the Prince discovering Sleeping Beauty and trying to wake her up with the kiss of my camera clicks. During the Covid-19 lockdown, Rome was a ghost town. Never before the Eternal city was so quiet. Never before usually overcrowded iconic locations were so empty, with no Romans nor tourists.
