Basilica San Francesco d’Assisi, a must see.
Having been proclaimed a Saint in 1228 by Gregory IX that the next day I laid the first stone of the current Basilica, it was finished on May 25th 1230.
Looking at it from a distance it looks like a medieval stronghold but, in reality, there are 2 superimposed churches. The Lower and Upper Basilica is also a crypt with the tomb of San Francesco d’Assisi.
