The official headquarters of the Pope. The famous church is topped with impressive statues along the outer face and full of beauty inside. The main walls are covered in beautiful frescos from the Renaissance age and the main nave, restored four centuries ago, will leave you in awe! It is one of the oldest churches of Rome, but the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano is something more: a real artistic jewel.

The Basilica of Saint Paul outside the Walls testifies the history of the Holy Church in Rome. The main altar, surmounted by a stunning Gothic canopy, treasures the mortal remains of St Paul, who was buried here. The giant basilica was built as early as the V century AD and features original Roman columns, a great mosaic from the Middle Age, but also the portraits of all the Popes in history, including the last ones: Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI.

The Scala Sancta are a set of 28 white marble steps that are Roman Catholic relics located in an edifice on extraterritorial property of the Holy See in Rome, Italy proximate to the Archbasilica of Saint John in Laterano. Officially, the edifice is titled the Pontifical Sanctuary of the Holy Stairs (Pontificio Santuario della Scala Santa), and incorporates part of the old Papal Lateran Palace.
