What makes Rome in a Day Tour: Colosseum Vatican Sistine Chapel and more a unique experience ?
You will meet your guide outside the Colosseum and with reserved tickets you bypass the queues and head inside to explore the wonders of this magnificent amphitheatre, the largest of its kind in the world and testimony to the engineering skills of the ancient Romans.
The tour then takes you to see the Arch of Constantine and the Roman Forum, the centre of all activity, commercial, political and religious in ancient Roman times. You will see the ruins of the imposing buildings that once surrounded the square; the 1st-century Arch of Titus, the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Temple of Saturn, the Senate House, and the white marble Arch of Septimius Severus to name a few.
You then walk down the famous Via Sacra (Sacred Way) to the Capitoline Hill to see one of Italy’s modern-day icons, Il Vittoriano, an imposing monument built in the neoclassical style.
Another short walk brings you to a very well-known fountain, featured in Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Legend says that if you throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain and make a wish you will return to Rome on day!
Time for lunch!(own expense). You guide can offer recommendations, be it a pizza, sandwich or 3-course meal, there are lots of places to choose from.
Another stroll along one of Rome’s quaint “vicolo” and you arrive at the Pantheon, last resting place of the famous painter and Architect Raphael.
Then, you pass the ancient Baths of Nero to Piazza Navona; a magnificent square where you can see Bernini’s “Fountain of the Rivers”.
No visit to Rome is complete without a visit to the Vatican City, so, the tour crosses the Tiber to see the world’s smallest country! You will visit the Vatican Museums with their collections of stunning artworks.
The tour guide will show you amazing frescoes by Raphael and of course the famous ceiling of the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo.
You then enter St. Peter’s Basilica and your guide will finally leave you with a view of the Papal Palace in St’ Peter’s Square; the perfect setting to end a wonderful and memorable 6-hours exploring the delights of Rome!
