Stop At: Assisi, Assisi, Province of Perugia, Umbria

After meeting a welcoming english -speaking driver, you start travveling to Umbria. After 2 hours 30 minutes you will rerach Assisi. This is a town with religion very close to its heart. Pilgrims have been coming to Assisi, Italy since the 13th century to venerate St. Francis, who was born and buried here, but you don’t have to be religious to enjoy the beauty of this postcard-perfect town. Framed by the long, undulating hills of Umbria and the forests of Monte Subasio, The entire town basks in this coveted status because of its plethora of art and historically significant buildings, like the Basilica di San Francesco. According to the UN, The town has a singular importance for its role in the diffusion of the Franciscan Order and for its “continuity of a city-sanctuary” from its Umbrian-Roman origins to today. So, you can decide to go inside the Basilica (own expenses), or just take a look, while walking throught Assisi.

Stop At: Orvieto, Orvieto, Province of Terni, Umbria

From Assisi, you go to another gem of this Region: Orvieto. Once there, you can decide to walk around, to get inside the Duomo, one of the most famous monuments of the Romanesque-Gothic Europe, that offers a comprehensive overview of Italian art, or take an undergound walking tour, to visit the hidden Orvieto: the ancient Etruscan Town, or just take a walk along the cobblestone narrow roads and sit down to sample renowned wines and genuine local food, such as pork and ‘pici’ pasta. When you are full of italian memories, you board on minivan and go back to rome. The driver will drop you off at your accomodation.
