The Vatican Museums are Christian and art museums located within the city limits of the Vatican City. They exhibit works from the immense collection accumulated by the popes over the centuries, including some of the most famous Roman sculptures and the most important Renaissance art masterpieces in the world.

Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy
The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512, is one of the most famous works of the High Renaissance. In the center of the ceiling decoration are nine scenes from the Book of Genesis of which The Creation of Adam is the best known, the hands of God and Adam are reproduced in countless imitations. The complex project includes several series of single figures, both clothed and nude, which allowed Michelangelo to fully demonstrate his ability to create a huge variety of poses for the human figure and has since provided an extremely influential modeling model for other artists.

St. Peter’s Basilica is one of the largest structures in the world and the largest of the papal basilicas. This basilica, considered an architectural work of great importance due to the vastness of its facade and the quality of its work, attracts visitors from all over the world every year who come to see the greatest sculptures of the time and enjoy a work that it took centuries to complete.
