Stop At: Piazza di Campo de’ Fiori, 00186 Rome Italy
Your evening dinning experience starts at Campo Dè Fiori Square, where you’ll meet your expert guide and take a brief walk to a family-run restaurant for an unforgetable dinner experience. Visit the basement of this restaurant, which opened in the ’20 and was enlarged in the ’40. While they were working in this part, they found out that two walls were different from the rest. They asked some archaeologists to come and check and it was found out that they belonged to the Pompey Theatre. It was actually the most famous theatre in Rome (its opening was celebrated in the 52, but it was completed in the 55 bc) because it was the first permanent theatre in Rome. Before than this one, theatres were made of wood, and moved from a place to another. It could contain about 17.000 people, incorporated to the building there was the temple of Venus and a huge courtyard, where senators used to have their meetings during the spectacles. This courtyard became famous because it happened one of the most famous murders of the roman history: julius Caesar was killed there. He was considered too ambitious and senators were afraid that he could turn the republic into an empire. Get to know much more curiosities about this place while you savor a 4 course Roman dinner experience!
