Visit: Parco Archeologico Dei Tauriani, Via del Vescovato, 181, 89015 Palmi RC, Italy

Visit to the crypt of san fantino
It is considered the burial place of San Fantino, the oldest historical saint
of Calabria. (ca 294 – 24 July 336).
The complex dedicated to San Fantino il Cavallaro (4th century), a nineteenth-century church and early Christian crypt, is located in Taureana di Palmi (RC) a few steps from the Archaeological Park of the Tauriani
The church visible from the outside was built in 1857, on the ruins of a now dilapidated church probably dating back to 1600.
Archaeological excavations have revealed the existence of lower levels: one of them belongs to a sixth-century Byzantine basilica, with three naves, partially visible also from the outside.
All levels are superimposed on an original underground structure, what is called the early Christian crypt, considered the burial place of the Saint

Visit to the Taurean archaeological park
The Archaeological Park of the Taurians “Antonio De Salvo” is located in the area where the ancient city of Tauriana (or Taurianum) once stood, on a surface of about three hectares lying on a coastal plateau overlooking the Costa Viola splendid stretch of the southern coast Calabrian Tyrrhenian.
The structures found, and highlighted within the park, are the following:
– huts of 4,000 years ago, discovered a few meters deep;
– urban systems of the city (first Brettia then Roman); +
– the “house of the mosaic”;
– the “urban sanctuary”, better known as the “house of Donna Canfora”;
– a Roman road;
– a building for circular shows: already at the end of the nineteenth century the historian De Salvo, in the work Metauria and Tauriana, had imagined it was an amphitheater.
– the Spanish Tower of 1500, already known and appreciated for some time.
