Itinerary

Day 1: Palermo and Monreale

Stop At: Mercato Ballaro, Vicolo Del Carmelo, 90134, Palermo, Sicily Italy
We will discover the huge historic, cultural and gastronomic heritage of Palermo, the capital city of the Island. We will start the visit by the ancient “Mercato di Ballarò” street market plunging into a past full of colors, scents and shouts (i vuci) of the vendors.

Stop At: Norman Palace, Piazza Indipendenza 1, 90129, Palermo, Sicily Italy
Later, we will move over Palazzo dei Normanni, location of the Sicilian government.

Inside the Palace we’ll visit the Cappella Palatina, of the most precious treasure of the town, that better represent the coexistence of different cultures and religions.

Pass By: Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio (La Martorana), Piazza Bellini 3, 90133, Palermo, Sicily Italy
The tour path will include also the beautiful Norman cathedral, the four corners (i quattro canti), Piazza Pretoria (aka the mountain of the shame, because of the naked statues), the church of San Cataldo and the Church of Jesus (aka Martorana).

Stop At: Duomo di Monreale, Piazza Guglielmo II 1, 90046, Monreale, Sicily Italy
In the afternoon, leaving Palermo, we’ll move over Monreale to visit its Duomo the highest example of the Arab-Norman art and architecture. The finest golden mosaics describe scenes of the Old and New Covenant. The most astonishing mosaics is the one of the Christ Pantocrator in the vault of the apse.

Transfer back to the hotel.

Day 2: Etna Volcano and Taormina

Stop At: Mount Etna, 95030 Catania, Sicily Italy
The tour begins with pick up from the hotel and a transfer to one of the most impressive Sicilian locations, the Mount Etna, the highest active volcano of Europe (3340 m) and a UNESCO world heritage site. At the height of 1900 m we will visit the Silvestri craters, by now inactive, joying the astonishing view. At your own discretion, the cable car is available to get higher and closer to the top of the Volcano or sit in a cafè to have a Sicilian snack.

Stop At: Piazza IX Aprile, Piazza 9 Aprile, 6, 98039 Taormina ME, Italy
We will leave the Mount to go to Taormina the most famous tourist location in Sicily. Here we’ll visit the greek theatre and the city centre that offers glimpses of an amazing landscape made up of sea, hills, mountains and valleys.

Day 3: Agrigento

Stop At: Valle dei Templi, Piazza Archeologica 1 Via Panoramica Dei Templi, 92100, Agrigento, Sicily Italy
The tour begins with pick up from the hotel and a transfer to Agrigento. First we’ll visit the famous Temples Valley (Valle dei Templi) a UNESCO world heritage site, where among the blossoming almond trees, rise up the ruins of the ancient Akragas, “the most beautiful town built by mortals” (Pindaro).
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Tempio della Concordia, Parco Archeologico della Valle dei Templi, 92100, Agrigento, Sicily Italy
The temples were built in the V century B.C. and the best preserved is the “Tempio della Concordia” whose look is so close to the Athen’s Partenone, with its yellow gold columns.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Rupe Atenea, Agrigento, Sicily Italy
Right after the visit of the archeological area, we’ll have a walk along the Via Atenea, the city centre of Agrigento, where we could have a lunch break.
Duration: 30 minutes

Pass By: Chiesa del Carmine (santuario di Maria Santissima dell’Udienza), Corso Umberto I, 92017 Sambuca di Sicilia, Sicily Italy
Leaving Agrigento, we will visit Sambuca di Sicilia, winner of the “Best Italian Village 2016” contest thanks to its several architectural styles and its lively cultural engagement.

Transfer back to the hotel.
