The Villa, a UNESCO heritage site, is a magnificent rural residence which belonged to an exponent of the Roman senatorial aristocracy. The charm of the structure is mainly due to the wonderful floor and wall mosaics, which represent the lifestyle of the owner. The stylistic influences of African art are evident. The decorations distinguish different styles and narrative cycles: one dedicated to mythology and epic poems, the other attributed to the nature and scenes of everyday life of the Roman aristocracy.
