Begin your visit to Cefalù, a small town by the sea on the north coast of Sicily between Palermo and Messina, with the Lavatoio Medievale, a 16th-century wash house that uses running water from the Cefalino river in its stone basins.
Nearby is Porta Pescara, a gateway to Cefalù beach which offers great views of the coastline. Take a walk in the old port and on the seaside.
Do not miss the 17th century Bastione di Capo Marchiafava, one of the many ancient defensive fortresses located along the coast. The view from the top of the Bastion is a real treat.
Right next to it is the Norman-Arab Cathedral Basilica Cattedrale which dates from the 12th century.
