Visit of Duomo di San Gennaro (Naples’ Cathedral) to admire the famous Treasure of San Gennaro and the Beauty of Santa Restituta’s Church, one of the first Early Christian church (4th century AD).

Pass By: Castel Nuovo – Maschio Angioino, Via Vittorio Emanuele III, 80133, Naples Italy

Continuation to the city center and have a great panoramic ride near the Castel Nuovo (also known as Maschio Angioino Castle).

The construction of its ancient core – today partially re-emerged following restoration and archaeological exploration – is due to the initiative of Charles I of Anjou, who in 1266, defeated the Swabians, ascended the throne of Sicily and established the transfer of the capital from Palermo to the Neapolitan city.

The foundation of the church dates back to 1642 and took place on a site that was scarcely urbanized at the time, consisting of four rural villages connected to the Mergellina area by an ancient Greco-Roman road.

The conventual friars of the third order founded a church and a small convent that had the function of sanatorium in the early years. On the foundation stone of he read:

«FRATER PAVLVS ANSELONVS FR 3 ORDINIS S.TI FRANCISCI FVUNDATOR OB MAGNAM DEVOTIONEM FAIRS FECIT YEAR DOMAINS MDCXXXXII»
The walls of the ancient chapel can be identified today in correspondence with the current sacristy, just as the premises of the original convent can be found in the rooms called “ex-monastery”.

The Castel dell’Ovo is the oldest castle in the city of Naples and is one of the elements that stand out most in the famous panorama of the gulf.
An ancient legend says that its name derives from the Latin poet Virgil that hidden in the dungeons of the building a magic egg that had the power to keep the entire fortress standing. Its rupture would have caused not only the collapse of the castle, but also a series of disastrous catastrophes in the city of Naples.

Stop At: Galleria Umberto I, Via San Carlo, Naples Italy

The main entrance, which opens onto Via San Carlo, consists of an exedra façade, which at the bottom has an architraved portico, supported by travertine columns and two blind arches, one accessing the gallery, the another open on the ambulatory.

Galleria Umberto I is a commercial gallery built in Naples between 1887 and 1890.

The interior of the gallery consists of two streets that cross orthogonally, covered by an iron and glass structure. Some palaces delimit them, four of them with access from the central octagon.
