What makes Naples Historical and Street Art Walking Tour a unique experience ?

The Spanish quarters are located in the historic part of the city of Naples, consisting, in turn, of the San Ferdinando, Avvocata and Montecalvario quarters.
The Spanish quarters are characterized from an urban planning point of view by a reticular structure, which descends from the heights dominated by Castel Sant’Elmo. The typical vocation of housing intended to accommodate Spanish soldiers is noted. They arose around the 16th century by order of Pedro de Toledo, in order to accommodate the Spanish military garrisons, intended to repress any revolts of the Neapolitan population, or as a temporary home for soldiers who passed through Naples on their way to other places of conflict.

The road starts from Piazza Dante and ends in Piazza Trieste e Trento, in the sequence of the road other arteries of notable importance branch off, squares, churches and noble palaces. The street has been one of the stops of Neapolitan shopping and cultural life since the 16th century. It was commissioned by the viceroy Pedro Álvarez de Toledo in 1536 based on a design by the royal architects Ferdinando Manlio and Giovanni Benincasa. The road ran along the old western city walls of the Aragonese era which, due to the defensive expansions of Don Pedro de Toledo himself, were made obsolete and therefore eliminated.
