Hercolaneum, unlike Pompeii, was mainly covered by ash and mud, only partially by lava, so everything is better preserved than Pompeii: still houses have their doors and frescos in a very good status. Continue to he National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa which gathers more than 55 historical rolling stocks, located in the ancient Pavilions of the bourbon workshop, travel back to 1839.
