La Spezia Trip Overview
Visit with your personal diriver the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa and the beautiful seaside village of Portovenere. Two important gems of Italian history.
After meeting your driver at the Cruise Terminal, we will move to Pisa, where you can visit Piazza dei Miracoli. Be amazed by the impressive marble monuments and the green grass where you can lie down to admire the famous Leaning Tower, (which you can climb if you wish with an entrance cost of 18 euros). Otherway you can visit the beautiful Cathedral of Pisa or the wonderful Baptistery, located next to the Leaning Tower, where you can admire beautiful works of art!
Later we will move to Porto Venere, for a walk to the Seaside Castle and Byron’s Cave, where the poet found his inspirations. Porto Venere looks like a “corsair village”, with its picturesque colored houses the typical local products, such as oil, wine and the famous pesto. At the end of the tour we will return to the cruise terminal of La Spezia.

What to Expect When Visiting La Spezia, Liguria, Italy

After meeting your driver at the Cruise Terminal, we will move to Pisa, where you can visit Piazza dei Miracoli. At the end of the tour we will return to the cruise terminal of La Spezia.
• Around 8:00 am, your English speaking driver will be waiting for you outside the Cruise Terminal in La Spezia.
• We will move on a private tour to Pisa, where you will have time to admire and photograph the famous Leaning Tower and other monuments in the square including the Baptistery and the Cathedral. The Tower began to tilt during construction in the 12th century, due to the soft ground that could not adequately support the weight of the structure, and worsened with the completion of the works in the 14th century. The structure was stabilized by repair work between 1993 and 2001, which reduced the slope to 3.97 degrees. Climbing to the top of the leaning tower of Pisa is a unique experience and offers a very nice view over the city.
• Then we will head towards Porto Venere (or Portovenere) for a second excursion on foot (the area of Porto Venere is a pedestrian zone). Porto Venere is located in the western part of the gulf of poets. Its main beauty is the castle built on the rocks in front of the Palmaria island, divided from it only by a small part of the sea. Porto Venere, is one of the most beautiful and characteristic villages of the Ligurian Riviera, a town known for its picturesque harbor flanked by brightly colored houses and for the Church of San Pietro, perched on the edge of the rocky promontory. Narrow medieval streets lead up the hill to a castle. The main street, which is accessed from the ancient city gate, is lined with shops. Nearby is Byron’s Cave, in a rocky area that leads to the sea where the poet Byron used to swim.
• Around 16:00 we will return to the Cruise Terminal.
