The historic center of Florence is full of shops and is the ideal destination for those who want to dedicate themselves to quality and classy shopping, in a unique city in the world.
Florence is known everywhere and one of the best known places in the city is definitely the Ponte Vecchio with its goldsmith shops. Located a stone’s throw from Piazza della Signoria, it is one of the favorite destinations for tourists visiting the city and also for Florentines who never forget to take a look at the jewelers’ windows.
On Ponte Vecchio, or Old Bridge, the shops follow one to another, with their windows shining with rings, bracelets and necklaces. A few silks and scarves shop interrupts this continuous series.
Going along the bridge in the opposite direction you are immediately in the historical center, where there are the most sought after shopping streets. via Por Santa Maria is the first one you meet. Some pottery shops offer handmade pieces with the typical colors and designs of the place. They range from the huge flower pot to the small fruit plates.
Looking around you can find shops with handkerchiefs and shirts embroidered by hand with great skill. A few more steps and here you will enter Loggia del Porcellino with a few stalls crammed all over the place that display, among other goods, leather bags and classic wooden trays with geometric designs that can be found only in Tuscany.
