The centre of Florence offers a world of Renaissance wonders. Explore the atmospheric streets full of local craftsmen of wood and leather as well as great places to eat local meat. Marvel at the daunting Duomo and walk along the beautiful Ponte Vecchio.

The main symbol of Florence is its impressive and imposing Duomo, named Santa Maria del Fiore. Famously designed by Brunelleschi six hundred years ago, it is still the third largest in the world! The outer colours and facade strongly follow the local traditions in Florence, holding the medieval rivalry again Siena within its design. Having a guided tour lets you understand the history full facade as well as the beautiful frescoed ceiling that is waiting for you inside.

Florence’s Dome is the production of Renaissance genius Filippo Brunelleschi. The construction of Santa Maria del Fiore has met a really challenging and complicated architectural issue: the Dome structure itself. It proved extremely difficult to develop machines capable of working to the Dome heights, never imagined before. It was thanks to Brunelleschi and its ‘double shell structure’ invention that the construction could be finally completed. Inside the Dome it is possible to see up close Giorgio Vasari’s beautiful frescoes. Vasari designed and drafted the extraordinary Judgement, terminated by his student Federico Zuccari in 1579
