Meet your guide in Piazza Santa Croce, in front of Dante’s statue by the church steps. Learn more about the famous basilica where Michelangelo is buried.

You will see the outside of Palazzo Strozzi as well as the lesser-known but equally incredible Palazzo Davanzati, a wonderful example of a Medieval Palace.

As you pass by the “Porcellino” (little pig) market, a short walk will bring you to the most famous and oldest bridge in Florence, the Ponte Vecchio , which dates from the 1300s and from where you have a stunning view of the hills that surround the city.

Once on the bridge you will learn about the bridge’s history and something of the Vasari Corridor which dramatically altered the shops that line the bridge.

Next is a visit the city’s political centre, Piazza della Signoria which has on one side the Uffizi Gallery, former offices of the Grand Duke and on the other the Palazzo Vecchio, former seat of the Florentine government.

It has become an enduring symbol of Florentine Renaissance.

Your guide will tell you about Porta del Paradiso, the stunning doors of the Baptistery, which together with Giotto’s Bell Tower are wonderful examples of 1300s architecture.
