What makes Off-road safari tour in the mountains of Cortina d’Ampezzo a unique experience ?
We arrive in Pomedes on the Tofane (2315m above sea level), site of the start of the famous stage of the women’s Alpine skiing World Cup which is held every year on the Olimpia delle Tofane. From here you have a fantastic view of the town of Cortina, Pomagagnon, Cristallo, Faloria, Sorapis, Rocchette, Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago, Lastoi de Formin, Averau, Nuvolau, 5 Torri.
We continue our tour towards the Rifugio Scoiattoli (2255m above sea level), in the “5 Torri” area. From here the view of the surrounding mountains suddenly opens up, leaving everyone speechless with a stupendous panorama of the Lastoi de Formìn, Averau, Nuvolau, Antelao, the Sorapìss group, and Croda Marcora. We will also have a close-up view of the 5 Torri which are among the most beautiful and famous Dolomite mountains. Here we will take a break, during which it will be possible to have a snack or have a coffee at the refuge. The entire 5 Torri area is a very important historical site. In fact, there are many trenches built during the First World War. They can be visited on foot as an open-air museum and include historical descriptions and reconstructions to give an idea of how the hard war life in the trenches took place.
For those wishing to visit them, they can do so independently during the 60-minute break we will take, it is recommended to wear appropriate footwear for mountain paths.
We continue to climb up to the Forcella Averau (2413m above sea level) from where we will enjoy an even more open view of the mountains of Cortina and also of the beautiful opposite side that was previously covered. It will also be possible to have a short snack here at the beautiful Averau Refuge.
We move to the other side of the Ampezzo valley, arriving in Mietres (1710m above sea level). Here the view opens spectacularly onto the town, the majestic Tofane, the Rocchette, Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago, Nuvolau, Averau.
We rise in altitude until we reach Son Forca (2235m above sea level), one of the most beautiful spots in Cortina and also more niche. The image of the Tofane framed by the Cristallo crests seems almost unreal thanks to such beauty.
We finally climb Mount Faloria until we arrive near the Faloria Refuge (2123m above sea level) where we find a very broad view of the Ampezzo valley and all the mountains that surround it.
We rise further until we reach the most panoramic point of the entire tour: the summit of Mount Faloria in Tondi di Faloria (2330m above sea level). From here, in addition to a complete view of Cortina and all the surrounding mountains, we find a wonderful view of the Cristallo and also of Lake Misurina with the mountains that surround it. You will simply be speechless.
