Colonna Stazione Trip Overview
A rejuvenating escape from chaos and traffic, in a fabulously idyllic ancient winery that makes excellent wines and has stunning views over Rome with gentle breezes to cool off in the summer. Wine has been made here for over 2000 years and these grounds provided the Ancient Romans with their favourite beverage.
Unwind and get a taste of the Grand Tour, see the foundations and caves that date back to Roman times and take away your painting kit, new skills and in-depth knowledge of wine.
This is a small group activity – you won’t find yourself ending up in a large and noisy activity. It’s all about relaxation. Painting, after all, is the new Yoga!
This winery has only just opened to the public so it’s off the usual tourist track!

Visit this ancient family-owned winery with me and let me tell you all about the winemaking process, the Estate’s history and what makes our area special. We’ll visit the fascinating caves too and since this is thirsty work we’ll also taste some gorgeous wines (I am a qualified sommelier and a pro artist) and I’ll guide you through your tasting. We’ll have 3 different wines in total, all of excellent quality (a Frascati DOCG, a Roma DOC Rosso and a ‘passito’ dessert wine), accompanied by tasty local bread drizzled in virgin olive oil and red pizza (plus a couple of surprises). I’ll provide you with a painting kit (that you get to keep) and we’ll choose a spot to start sketching and painting. No need to be an expert and this is great relaxation therapy. Of course, I will be with you to give you as much or as little instruction as you wish.
