Royal Tour in the Park of Caserta

Caserta Trip Overview

The park of the Royal Palace of Caserta is a joy for the eyes thanks to the numerous fountains, the wonderful waterfalls and thanks to its neoclassical buildings. Among the many beauties, there is the English Garden, a refined jewel of nature and art. An oasis that preserves very rare plants from all over the world. A place where Masonic initiation rituals took place. It was also the refuge for the pleasures of Queen Maria Carolina of Austria. The sovereign invested her personal fortunes to make the garden more beautiful than the Petit Trianon of Versailles, which was commissioned by her sister Marie Antoinette instead.

Itinerary

The Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta, designed by the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli, is not only a scenic green expanse with many water features, but also a place of semi-hidden vistas, stories and myths to be discovered.

We will cross the majestic entrance of the palace to find ourselves in a magnificent royal park: 3 km long, oriented south-north, on 120 hectares. We will walk along the avenues along which there is a spectacular straight waterway, but interrupted by a series of waterfalls, lawns, large pools and suggestive fountains such as that of Diana and Actaeon.

We will go into the wonderful English garden, the first example of an informal Italian garden. A green paradise populated by rare tree species imported from all over the world and enriched with statues, temples, spectacular buildings and even the ruins of ancient Pompeii.
