Itinerary
Seven churches in one? Impossible! In Bologna, precisely in Piazza Santo Stefano, you will find a clear example of the opposite.
The Basilica of Santo Stefano is undoubtedly one of the most interesting places in Bologna, which preserves memories of the city’s past. Likewise, Corte Isolani is also a jewel of Bolognese history!
Entering the complex you will find yourself inside the Church of the Crucifix. Of Lombard origin, its construction took place during the 7th century.
The most striking attraction is to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This part of the complex seems to have been built over an ancient temple of Isis and dates back to the 5th century.
Outside the Basilica of Santo Stefano are the Pilate’s Courtyard and the beautiful Medieval Cloister
You can also discover the adjacent Corte Isolani and the secrets that are enclosed between the arches of this imposing palace.
Corte Isolani is one of the most interesting examples of architectural redevelopment and conversion of historic buildings in Italy, overlooking Piazza Santo Stefano (or the Seven Churches), one of the most beautiful in Italy, and Strada Maggiore.
