Belpasso Trip Overview
We proposed a 2-day excursion to the Etna Park Nature Reserve. It is a unique experience for its kind and for the natural wonders that are encountered and seen along the way. During the activity you will have the feeling of living as it once was. Indeed, the horse will be our travel companion and will lead us to discover the most beautiful places that Etna offers. We will sleep in shelters renovated by the Forestry Company and meals will be prepared on the spot based on typical products of the Sicilian culinary tradition. We will cross ancient and more recent cooled lava flows, but also verdant forests of oak, chestnut, beech, birch.

Itinerary
Day 1: Start from my farm in Belpasso-Arrive Pista Altomontana
Pass By: Mount Etna, 95030 Catania, Sicily Italy
The itinerary of the first day is a stage of approaching the Altomontana track, we will travel along lava paths, oak, chestnut, beech and birch woods. We will see lava caves of extraordinary beauty and pass through old shepherd’s huts.
Meals included:
• Lunch: We will provide you with a packed lunch and for dinner we will have a barbecue at the refuge where we will stop to sleep
Accommodation included: We will sleep in a Sicilian-style refuge at an altitude of 1700 meters inside which there is also a fireplace to warm up
Day 2: Altomontana-Monte Intraleo slope-Come back in my farm
Pass By: Mount Etna, 95030 Catania, Sicily Italy
The itinerary of the second day is a wonderful stop as we will wake up in the silence in the woods and we will go to the discovery of ancient “paghiari”, once used by mountain workers as a shelter from the elements. We will travel along mule tracks once used for the snow trade and we will stop for lunch at one of the largest refuges in the Natural Reserve of the Etna Park. Finally, we could admire the eruptive activity of the Volcano from unique vantage points

• Breakfast: We will have breakfast in the refuge where we spent the night and lunch in another refuge in the middle of the woods
