A unique tour where culture, opera and food blend perfectly. First reach Monopoli old port, admire the gozzi, local small boats made entirely from wood, in their characteristic light blue and red colors.
Pass by Carlo V Castle, built during the Spanish domain in the 16th century, when Apulian coasts were endowed with defensive fortresses. Entering the historical center of the town, you’ll walk through narrow streets paved in ‘chianche’, between arches and alleys. You will smell the parfume of sea air, the freshness of hung laundry and the meatballs sauce cooked for hours, as per Apulian tradition. During the tour stop at San Domenico church, you’ll immediately admire the late 15th Century façade, three rows divided by columns and pillars. The main door, with its richly decorated and flower patterned frames, draws attention together with the magnificent stone rose window. Last stop at the richly decorated Cathedral of Saint Maria della Madia, where you’ll have a detailed tour inside.
