On board an elegant van or car, you will reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Matera, the place where the viewpoint of the Sasso Barisano is located which, together with the Sasso Caveoso, constitute the main attraction of Matera. During the walk, you can admire the Cathedral of the Madonna della Bruna, completed in 1270, the Palazzo del Sedile, a Renaissance building, now home to the Duni Conservatory; Madonna dell’Idris and San Giovanni in Monterrone, two churches partly excavated and partly built, the excavation of which dates back to the 11th century. Walking among the Sassi, a Unesco site since 1993, you can admire the landscape of the Gravina di Matera, a canyon created by the slow working of the Gravina stream, and the Murgia Materana Park, where hundreds of rock churches, hermitages and monasteries have found space, subsequently used by shepherds for transhumance. During the tour, we will visit a cave house and the rock church of Santa Lucia alle Malve (11th century).
