Arrived in Matera, an expert local guide will be waiting for you and will lead you to discover the city of the Sassi, UNESCO site and European Capital of Cultural 2019.
You will leave from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, from where you can admire a beautiful view of the “Sassi” and its characteristic alleys. Proceed towards the two quarters of the “Sassi” along Via Duomo. You will discover the presence of rupestrian churches with beautiful frescoes and cave houses, where the inhabitants lived until the beginning of the 20th century. In the itinerary you will look out on the beautiful park of the Murgia of Matera from one of the terraces of the center.
Finally you will reach to the cathedral built in Apulian Romanesque style with Baroque decorations. After the visit you will have an hour of free time and then you will reach the driver who, on the way back, will take you on a panoramic tour of the Murgia Materana, where you can stop and enjoy typical products in a pic-nic if the weather permits.
