Immerse yourself in the colors and ancient history of the Rainbow Valley Step into a fascinating corner of the Atacama Desert, where geology, history and culture intertwine in a truly unique landscape. This experience invites you to explore the Rainbow Valley, a place that seems to have been lifted from a dream, where mountains and rock formations sport a natural palette of colors that vary between green, red, ochre, white and violet, a product of the rich mineral composition of the terrain. Before arriving at the valley, we will stop at Yerbas Buenas, an archaeological site of great value for the Atacameño culture, where you can admire ancient petroglyphs carved into the rock by the civilizations that inhabited these lands thousands of years ago. These engravings are silent testimony to a profound worldview, in which human beings lived in harmony with the desert and its mysteries.

We will travel to the west of San Pedro de Atacama to meet the Cordillera de Domeyko, a spectacular formation that coexists in parallel to Los Andes. The Rainbow Valley tour is a tour that invites you to discover incredible geological formations, compositions of different colors and peculiarities. We will start with a good breakfast in the heart of the Rainbow Valley, to then make a circuit of approximately 1 hr, walking through this incredible place, and then visit Yerbas Buenas, a small local town that practices agriculture and llamas grazing, and in whose area there is a concentration of petroglyphs and pictographs dating back hundreds of years, thus internalizing the history and archeology that underlies these territories. For lovers of history and archeology this is the ideal tour After our incredible experience in between the geographic and cultural history of Atacama, we will return our trip back to San Pedro de Atacama. The drop off will be at the city centre.

We begin crossing Yerba Buena path heading towards Rinconada in order to enjot the ascent through the exuberant jungle of Yungas. We will head west from San Pedro de Atacama, first visiting Yerbas Buenas, an area of great historical importance, as it has one of the largest groups of petroglyphs in the region. Through this place, the indigenous caravans that traveled from the Argentine northeast and the Bolivian Altiplano crossed, and arrived as far as the Pacific Ocean. We will find very different carvings and drawings on the rock, such as llamas, camelids, birds, monkeys and dogs. Next, when crossing Matancilla, we will see the Rainbow Valley, called that way because of the different colors that the mountains have because of of minerals. The earthy, reddish, beige, green, white and yellow colors reveal the different concentrations of salts, clays and minerals. Let's go for a walk, going through its rock formations and the unique landscape of the place.

Take a secret passage to the landmark Telegraph Hill. Enjoy views of the waterfront, explore the history of the Embarcadero and charm of the wooden steps & lush greenery that wrap around the Filbert Stairs. Reach the summit & take-in local history at Coit Tower, a San Francisco landmark in Pioneer Park. Beyond the tower a hidden garden awaits, offering spectacular views of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, & infamous Alcatraz Island. Descend the masonry of the Greenwich Street steps to Levi Plaza, the headquarters of jeans, & visit Green Street Lab, where Philo Farnsworth sent the 1st television transmission. Following the breeze of the Old Waterfront, we’ll head to the coast, enjoy pictures of the "old days", when three-mast ships bustled along Yerba Buena Cove during San Francisco’s construction.
