The best Horse Trail Rides in Arizona. Gentle horses. Good trails through the mountains and canyons. Adventurous. Best, most colorful scenery. Great for photographers! Great outdoor activity for the family. Wrangler provides education about the plants in the desert such as the barrel cactus, saguaro cactus, yucca,creaso bush, prickly pear cactus, and the types of birds living there such as the road runner, red-tailed hawk, zoned tail hawk, Bald Eagle, Turkey Vulture, Woodpecker, Cactus Wren, Elf Owl, black phoebe, yellow-headed blackbird, Le Conte's Thrasher, Curved Bill Thrasher, White Winged Dove, Butos, Phainopepla, Verdin and the brown crested Flycatcher among many other wonderful birds.
The wrangler also educated his riders about all the wild animals and plants of the desert.

Mountain Horse Stables is home to award winning marathon (endurance) horses as well as many rescued happy trail horses. In addition to training and breeding, the stable does on-site equine rehabilitation. Our rehabilitated horses are returned to their (now educated) owners or kept to lead a life of pampered luxury as one of our trail horses.

What could be better than a Sunset Trail Ride at Lake Louisa State Park? A sunset trail ride with champagne and charcuterie! Enjoy beautiful sunsets and evening wildlife during the magical golden hours. This ride is family-friendly, and safely led by two experienced and friendly wranglers. No previous riding experience is required.
Rides will follow a special route, and arrive back to the barn roughly 30 minutes before sunset. While the wranglers put the horses to bed, guests will enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne (must be 21 or older with valid ID) or sparkling cider, charcuterie board, and roasting s'mores over a campfire.
Required arrival times are 30 minutes BEFORE the start of the ride. Start times are strictly enforced to ensure the ride is safely back at the barn before sundown.
Chimney Rock Trail Ride

Hop into the saddle, take the reins, and traverse the trails of Paradise Valley in true Western fashion atop one of our gentle horses. Follow the lead of our equestrian adventure as we take you to a true hidden gem – Chimney Rock – and enjoy a plethora of beautiful mountain views. Once you arrive, take a break and behold this giant piece of rock that rests at an elevation of 7,650 feet and overlooks three different mountain ranges: the Absaroka, the Bridger and the Gallatin ranges. As we set out for our return, prepare yourself (and your camera) for another opportunity to soak in the stunning scenery that makes our ranch so special.
*After meeting staff at Erik’s Ranch, you’ll follow them in your vehicle for a scenic 20-minute drive to the trailhead. The trail itself winds through private land and remote trails rarely seen by the public. A high-clearance, AWD or 4WD vehicle is recommended to access the trailhead.

The Dine culture, language, and traditions are still practiced today by many of the Navajo People. Horseback riding is a big part of our culture, even used in many of the marriage ceremonies and healing ceremonies.
One of the early settlers, Mr. Manson Yazzie (1886-1976) lived and grazed his livestock in vicinity of Waterhole Canyon. Loom Rock and Horse Bend area on a seasonal basic until he passed away in 1976.
Mr. Manson Yazzie's family continues to live in this area practice Dine traditional way of life, they maintain horse, and other various livestock on their lands.
