This day tour (8/9 hours) is available 7 days a week and it can be starting from Naples, from Sorrento, from Amalfi coast or from Salerno. The client will be picked up at their accommodation by an English speaking driver/guide (hotel, railroad station, cruise ship etc) for this amazing and educational tour to the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, both buried by Mount Vesuvius in the year 79AD. We usually start with Pompeii for two hrs then Mount Vesuvius and Herculaneum is the last. Included in the price is a private official guide for the tour in Pompeii and Herculaneum, the guides will help clients to get admission tickets in order to skip the line.  Driving up to Mount Vesuvius the driver will explain the history and all the details about this active volcano. On the way up or down we can stop to a local restaurant for pizza or light lunch.

Continue to Herculaneum and free time to visit the archaeological park. Together with Pompeii, Herculaneum is considered one of the main archaeological sites of the Campania Region today; it is better preserved than the one of Pompeii due to it being buried under a cover of mud and lava. Return to Sorrento in the afternoon.

This tour unfolds in two parts: the first takes place at Pompeii where we will fully explore the excavated city in its entirety and, almost like phantoms we will sneak in and observe the lives of the inhabitants in the days just before the catastrophe. The second part of the tour will take place in the galleries of the Archeological Museum of Naples. The frescoes, statues, handcrafts, and jewels that had remained for centuries under the lava and then brought to light during the excavations were slowly collected and brought together to form the nucleus of Museum's collections. They have no equivalent in any other museum in the world. Mosaics such as the Battle of Alexander the Great, the Traveling Musicians, and the Academy of Plato are surprising to say the least, and we will engage with the stories they recount, the places where they were found, the political, social significance they had in the context of Roman culture.
