“Kendo” is about swordsmanship, a traditional Japanese martial arts skill of the Samurai, the path of the sword in Japan. You can practice Kendo, “Unify your spirits”,”Manners”, and “Lifelong Kendo”. These three benefits can be created as a kendo. Please feel free to touch it. The experience allows you to work with a Kendo instructor who speaks English in an easy to understand way. Katsumoto was featured in the 2003 Hollywood movie "The Last Samurai," about Saigo Takamori, a Kagoshima native. The tour will visit historical sites related to the end of his life, in which he lived with a samurai spirit until the end. The route will start at the top of a hill from where you can see the entire city of Kagoshima and walk down to the arrival point in the center of the city, the statue of Takamori Saigo. Our samurai experience program entails dressing up in a samurai costume and learning samurai sword fighting (Tate) first-hand. Anybody can join the activity regardless of age and gender, as long as you have the samurai spirit within you. Characterized by a one-sword deathblow, the Higo old-style naginata(Long Sword), which uses weapons as long as 8 shaku (approximately 2.4m) was developed in Kumamoto before the mid-1700s. Since the end of the Meiji era when there were no male instructors, female instructors have preserved the tradition, and currently, Ms. Hirata is the 15th head of the school. When using a heavy and long weapon that is eight shaku (about 2.4m), there are few movements and moves, the form is simple, and although there is no ""flashy"" movement, training in body handling and foot handling is required to move quickly.
