This excursion includes an itinerary in stages to let you know and appreciate places of particular natural value within the reserve of the Etna Park up to an altitude of about 2000 meters. Thanks to the experience of our staff, on board of 4×4 vehicles you will live an interesting and at the same time fun experience. Starting from the lava flows that threatened entire villages, we will visit the extinct craters and the viewpoint of the majestic Valle del Bove. We will descend into the meanders of the volcano visiting a lava flow cave (lava tube) equipped with a helmet and speleologist lights. The tour will end with a tasting of Sicilian specialties. IMPORTANT NOTES: If you have a car we recommend that you reach our meeting point in Trecastagni in MontataGrande. LANGUAGE: During the high season there may be overbooking of reservations for one language. In this case, a tour leader speaking the selected language will be guaranteed in the scheduled stages of the tour.

The tour to the craters of 2002 is one of the most sought after destinations and chosen by tourists on the northern side of Etna, far from the large mass of visitors. This tour allows you to savor the authenticity of the Etna volcanic environment in total tranquility. Our guests accompanied by guides will be accompanied on a visit to the remains of the tourist infrastructures destroyed by the lava flows of the great eruption of 2002, through woods, lunar landscapes and finally on the edges of explosive craters, all in a path of just over 4.5 km roundtrip. Each excursion is carried out in compliance with the levels of volcanic risk. After the meeting and departure from Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza (Etna Sud), with the cable car and 4×4 jeep you reach an altitude of 2,800 meters and from here in about 2 hours of walking through lava flows and environments looking lunar, you reach the Etna Summit Craters at 3340mt. Here we will walk on the spectacular rim of the Central Crater, we will face the dizzying Northeast Crater and we will see at our side the famous Southeast Crater, author of the most recent and impressive eruptions. In addition to the vastness of the summit craters, you will admire a unique volcanic environment, with gas emissions, volcanic bombs and the sparkling colors of the ground thanks to the sublimation of various elements, including sulfur in particular. During the descent we will visit the craters of Barbagallo and cross a lava channel. Once again at 2500 m with the Etna cable car we will return to the starting point.

Explore Mount Etna on tour from Catania! You will be introduced to the landscapes and geology of the Volcano from our naturalistic and passionate guide. Following a hiking route up to 2000 meters, you will have the chance to admire forests, craters, lava formations, and scenic views of the mountain. You will visit a volcanic cave using the equipment provided from us (helmets and torches). The tour start with the Pick up in your accommodation aboard a luxury mercedes v class minivan with an english speaking driver. From there you will continue towards Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, you will arrive at the Sapienza refuge at 2000m, from there you will visit the Silvestri Craters with a short and easy trek, then you can decide whether to take the cable car up to 2900m at an extra cost of 80 euros per person with a duration of about 2.30h. Afterwards you will continue with the driver towards Oro d'Etna, the home of honey and you will see the lava flow of 1992. The tour continues at the winery, where you will have a wine tasting & light lunch. Finally the driver will take you back to the pick up point. Etna Alcantara tour is the experience to discover two totally different types of lava landscapes. The first part of the day will take you to the northern side of Mt. Etna at 6500 ft above sea level. Here you will learn about the stages that led to the origin of Mt. Etna and the different types of volcanic activities all hiking up to the edge of some of the extinct craters formed by ancient eruptions. In the second part of the Etna Alcantara tour, you will visit the Alcantara Valley where the Alcantara River has shaped the famous basaltic lava canyon formed by prehistoric lava flows of Mount Etna. Here you will spend some times by the River, having the possibility to go in the cold water, admiring outstanding geological formations. Don't forget to bring with you: sunscreen, hat, hiking shoes. Water shoes, swimsuits and towels will be useful if you plan to go in the water (in the summertime).

Our tour leader will pick you up at 9:00 a.m. from your hotel in Catania or from an agreed meeting point, to take you aboard one of our 8-seater vehicles. Your guide will lead you to discover the beautiful city of Zafferana Etnea, repeatedly touched by the lava of Etna and which has become the Sicilian capital of honey.After that, at about 11.00/11.30 AM you will get to the first winery, where you will start with the Etna Wine tasting; also, you will have an aperitif based on local products. Next, during a walk through the vineyards, you will learn about their production. So you will visit the second winery, where you will enjoy a full lunch with fresh and local products. An appetizer (cheeses, salami, olives, fresh bread and so on), a first dish and a second, all combined with 3 Etna Doc wines (one white and two reds). After lunch you will visit the vineyards, so you can explore the interesting world of the natural wine.

This experience start at the designated location (port, railway station, hotels) with a transfer to Linguaglossa. The 2002 eruption was among the most impressive and devastating in recent years. The route allows you to discover and study the many volcanic morphologies, related to the eruptions that followed one another on the northern slope of Etna. It will also be possible to visit the eruptions on the side of 10 September 1911 and 17 June 1923 which threatened the town of Linguaglossa. You will climb along the pyroclastic cones of the 2002 eruption until you reach the maximum altitude of 2100 meters. Once on the 2100 meter Crater it will begin the descent into a sandy channel that will lead us back to the starting point of Piano Provenzana. From a naturalistic point of view, it is the most exciting tour as we will cross the small and typical municipalities of the area such as Calatabiano, Castiglione di Sicilia and Linguaglossa to reach Piano Provenzana. Upon returning, our journey will continue to reach the Alcantara Gorges: a lava canyon crossed by icy waters. Here there will be the opportunity to taste typical local products inside the botanical and geological park and use an elevator to reach the canyon.

We propose visits to paths and caves little known for tourism, correlated by technical explanations but also legends and tales of the Etna tradition. The nature and territorial evolutions will involve the traveler, together with the consultation of photos and historical material. In addition, an original picnic in nature is proposed to regain time and the little things that remind us of childhood, enjoying the equipped areas immersed in the Etnean green tasting typical products of the volcano (tomatoes, olives, salami, cheeses, honey, jams, wine, oil and bread).
