Villa Adriana in Tivoli (less than 30 km from Rome), was built by Emperor Hadrian in the second century AD. Its striking atmosphere evokes the glory of Rome, the capital of the Roman Empire, but also the more distant and exotic provinces, such as Greece and Egypt. Have a nice stroll through the large square called “Pecile”, where a majestic colonnade encircles a rectangular pool, to reach the breathtaking Canopus, which recalls the Nile canal where Antinoo, the emperor’s favorite, died in a mysterious way. Here you will admire the enchanting reflections of the statues on the water and relive the splendid atmosphere of the ancient Roman banquets, surrounded by statues of caryatids, ancient heroes and even crocodiles! To visit Villa D'Este and Hadrian's Villa is a great experience. It really great to walk into the Fountain's garden and into the old appartament of the Ippolito D'Este Cardinal. Great frescoes and wonderful water game on very old fountains. The walking into the ruins of Hadrian's Villa let us understend how the old roman people were great on the architecture.
