Steel handholds, ladders, and footsteps as well as a steel safety cable are secured to the rock wall providing assistance and safety. Climbers are safely secured to the safety cable while climbing. The Explorer Route is a 2.5-hour introduction to Via Ferrata and a great way to test out this adrenaline-packed alpine activity. Climb pitches, and cross the course’s picturesque suspension bridge. Although no prior climbing experience is necessary, guests should be fit enough to climb a ladder.

Via Ferrata, The Děčín Shepherd's Wall in Bohemian Switzerland is really for everyone. The beginner will acquire the basic skills of moving along a secured path in a very interesting environment. The Shepherd's Wall offers a choice of 16 paths with lengths of 150 – 170 m on one rock and absolutely everyone will be amazed by the breathtaking views of the opposite castle and the deep Elbe canyon. This route involves short sections of scrambling on narrow ledges, with some sections protected with metal “staples” (or ladders), so it is not suitable for those who suffer badly from fear of heights and do not enjoy pushing their boundaries. This steep and challenging route requires a good fitness level. ​​There are many level sections along the route though that break up the climbs nicely so many people find this to be a less tiring route than Platteklip Gorge. We meet at the Lower Cable Station and ascend via India Venster to finish at the Upper Cable Station. If the cablecar is open – from the summit you can choose how long you would like to stay on the summit, enjoying the views and the treats available at the “Café at the Top”, and then take the cable car down mountain If it is closed we will hike back down the mountain via Platteklip Gorge
